As I’ve noted before, one of my favorite ways to help kids practice their speech, language, and/or executive functioning exercises – with less fussing and complaining! — is to work the exercises into games. Our kids get to play a game, we help them do their exercises (without it being obvious), and everyone has some fun!
A game that I’ve found useful for younger children (3+) is Hi Ho! Cherry-O. Check out some of my top tips for using this game to help with:
- Everyday speech functionality
- Learning to take turns
- Practicing following rules and guidelines (playing fair!)
- Strengthening many speech sounds: S, F, G, “I’m” and more!
If this was helpful and you’d like more tips and exercises, check out the next monthly workshop.
